Aster & Medcare Hospitals Expanded Mil-tek Bin Compactor Solution Across Six Healthcare Facilities

To optimise waste handling across its healthcare facilities, Aster DM Healthcare Group partnered with Mil-tek. The journey began with a monthly trial at Aster Hospital Al Qusais in August 2025. Following outstanding operational and financial results, the solution was expanded to five additional Aster and Medcare hospitals, establishing a more efficient and standardised waste management system across the group.

A Pilot Project with Measurable Results

Aster Hospital Al Qusais was sending approximately 12 standard 1.1cbm waste skips every day for disposal. This huge waste accumulation, overflowing bins, Frequent collections, and increasing disposal costs were putting unnecessary pressure on housekeeping operations while making it difficult to maintain the desired standards of cleanliness.

The hospital management decided to evaluate the solution through a structured monthly trial. This allowed the hospital to measure actual performance, verify cost savings and assess operational improvements before making a wider investment.

From One Hospital to Six Healthcare Facilities

Following a comprehensive site survey, Mil-tek installed a BC1100 Bin Compactor at Aster Hospital Al Qusais.

The machine compacts general waste directly into standard 1.1cbm wheelie bins, achieving up to 90% waste volume reduction and significantly increasing the effective capacity of each waste skip. During the trial period, the number of waste skips requiring daily collection was reduced from 12 to only 5, while verified disposal cost savings reached approximately AED 6,300 per month.

The success of the pilot project gave the management complete confidence in the solution, leading to its implementation across five additional hospitals within the Aster DM Healthcare Group.

Creating a Consistent Waste Management Standard

Today, Mil-tek Bin Compactors support waste handling across multiple Aster and Medcare Hospitals, helping housekeeping teams manage waste more efficiently while maintaining cleaner waste rooms and higher hygiene standards.

Beyond reducing disposal costs, the solution has standardised waste handling practices across the healthcare group, reduced unnecessary waste collections and improved operational efficiency without disrupting existing waste collection procedures. The project demonstrates how one successful pilot can become the foundation for a scalable, long-term waste management strategy across multiple healthcare facilities.
