The enormous shopping mall manages to keep a tidy and clean waste room thanks to 2 Mil-tek mill-size balers.
Massive waste volumes generated by popular shopping mall
The Yas Mall is a popular Shopping Mall in Abu Dhabi which is situated at the prominent Yas Island. It has over 370 stores housing many luxurious and mainstream brands, numerous dining options and other entertainment attractions.
The mall naturally generates massive waste volumes, consisting of cardboard, plastic, paper, polystyrene etc. to general mixed waste from restaurants and so on. Because of these huge volumes of waste, the mall requires a comprehensive and efficient solution for its waste management.
2 mill-size balers to handle cardboard and plastic
Yas Mall partnered up with Mil-tek in order to find the best possible solution to their new waste handling strategy. Mil-tek carried out a thorough waste audit on site, and the solution ended up consisting of 2 Mill Size Balers Model H501 installed in the mall’s waste room.
The 2 balers were a tool to handle cardboard and plastic waste more efficiently. Being pneumatic, and very powerful, the 501 balers silently compact these types of waste with a 90% volume reduction.
Waste room is now organized, Lean and clean
Now, instead of having stacks of unfolded cardboard boxes and massive amounts of uncontrollable plastic waste laying around, cluttering up the working areas, Yas Mall now has to only store their bales of cardboard and plastic and have it collected regularly.
Yas Mall has optimized the frequency of transportation and their earnings from recyclable waste has increased manifold. They now have a clean and tidy waste room.
