Holiday Inn is a 4-Star Hotel by InterContinental Group of Hotels, located on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. With their waste costs increasing and their carbon footprint also on their rise, they contacted Mil-tek.

Better Waste Handling and Enhancing Environmental Awareness

Holiday Inn is a 4-Star Hotel by InterContinental Group of Hotels, located on the Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. It is within walking distance of the Mall of Emirates. It has 310 Rooms, multiple recreational facilities as well as several conference centres.

Holiday Inn Hotel was experiencing issues with the large volumes of mixed waste as well as the recyclable waste that was coming from their hotel rooms, the bars, the conference centers and other areas of the hotel.

They have a small waste room which contained several bins, but this was proving insufficient to handle the growing volume of waste. They had a small cage for loose recyclable waste such as cardboard, paper, plastic and cans, but this filled up too quickly and too often.

With their waste costs increasing and their carbon footprint also on their rise, they contacted Mil-tek.

The Solution

Mil-tek installed a model 102 Baler for baling cardboard, plastic and PET plastic bottles, and an X-Press 200 Compactor for compacting mixed waste. Mil-tek also referred a local recycler who buys the baled recyclable waste at competitive market prices.

The waste room at Holiday Inn now has four times more capacity and looks clean, hygienic and sends a positive environmental message. The number of bins and the disposal cost has been reduced.

The company is now fulfilling its responsibility to the environment and is earning on its waste at the same time.
