Better Waste Handling and Reduced Waste Costs

The Auris Plaza Hotel is a five-star luxury hotel located in Al Barsha Dubai, next to the Mall of the Emirates and conveniently midway between Dubai Marina and Downtown Dubai. Featuring 337 rooms and suits over 14 floors, the Auris offers dining venues, an executive lounge, a cafe and an outdoor pool and terrace.

Auris Plaza Hotel had an issue with their waste handling and the associated costs. They produce large volumes of varied types of waste including cardboard, soft plastic, PET bottles and cans, and general/ mixed waste.

The Solution: 

After completing a complete audit on their waste handling, Mil-tek installed a 205TS baler for cardboard, plastic, PET bottles and cans and a X-Press 200 compactor for their mixed and general waste. This has allowed them to  reduce the number of bins and the number of bin collections, and thus minimized their waste disposal cost. 

They now sort and bale their recyclable items such as cardboard and plastic, which they sell to a local recycler. This generating additional revenue.

These changes have allowed for a significant reduction in their waste costs, a reduction in their carbon footprint, and created a hygienic waste area with more free space and easier waste handling, all contributing to a positive, clean and green image.
